The Technical Web Content Producer is responsible for implementing and coordinating content changes to the US and the international united.com sites. A Technical Web Producer is an expert user of the tools which manage the static and dynamic content portions of the site, including for various applications on the website. This is the key role in ensuring that customers receive accurate and up-to-date information when they visit our united.com sites. The team lead senior web producer is a working technical producer that also manages a team of content producers in a supervisory role.
Perform a wide variety of production related tasks including building, modifying, maintaining, optimizing web pages.
Ability to interpret wireframes and graphic composites to build, maintain, and optimize web pages using advanced HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, JSP and custom United system code and tagging systems.
Firm understanding of Usability and Information Architecture for the web.
Contribute to implementing templates for easy maintenance of web sections.
Research and keep up with trends and changes in technologies.
Supervise team to ensure consistency in work deliverables.
Maintain high level of awareness of web coding and browser standards and trends.
Manage timelines and synchronize resource allocation to work.
Support best practices in content execution.
Improve processes and integration of the team within other business processes.
United.com is in operation 24/7 and the Technical Web Producer will need to be available for on-call after-hours support on a rotating basis.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field is required
Experience:
6+ years experience: hand written advanced JavaScript, HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, Web Page source code organization and structure, Internet Protocols, Browsers, Email Clients, Cross-Browser, Cross-platform Implementation and Testing.
Capable of producing highly efficient Cross-Browser, Cross-Platform, modular and reusable code.
Experience with Content Management systems (preferably Vignette), and Knowledge Base applications is required.
Firm understanding of Web Production within the design constraints of the web including browser differences, foreign character displays, technology limitations.
Expert working knowledge of Web production tools: Dreamweaver (or equivalent), Putty, FTP, Filezilla
Direct experience in B2C eCommerce/website development preferred
